Project no.: 09.3.3-LMT-K-712-24-0013

Project description:

The aim of the project is to develop the student’s analytical and research competencies by analyzing the long-term change in the environmental attitudes of the Lithuanian population. This goal is based on the strategy of Kaunas University of Technology, in which students’ analytical skills and competencies are considered one of the priority areas, and additional measures should be used to develop them. This project should be considered as one of such additional measures. During the additional research, which is not provided for in the study program, the opportunity was used to use the knowledge and academic skills accumulated during the studies, and they were applied in practice. The student conducted a study and evaluated the change in the environmental attitudes of the Lithuanian population in the long run from 2008 to 2020, and on the basis of this scientific work, she prepared a report and the text of a scientific article.

Project funding:

Project is funded by EU Structural Funds according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments priority “Development of scientific competence of researchers, other researchers, students through practical scientific activities” under Measure No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712.

Project results:

During the project, the goal was achieved and the student’s analytical and research competencies were developed during the analysis of the change in the environmental attitudes of the Lithuanian population in the long run from 2008 to 2020. During the research, the student learned to apply in practice the scientific knowledge and academic skills acquired during the study. During the project, the student performed conceptualization and operationalization of environmental attitudes, selected and applied data analysis methods, managed survey data, prepared a report and the text of a scientific article. The results of the analysis showed that the studied environmental attitudes changed inconsistently – it strengthened and weakened throughout the period. The change in environmental attitudes when comparing different age groups is quite similar in all aspects studied. Among respondents with strong pro-environmental attitudes, the share of young people aged 15-24 is steadily declining. The propensity to take personal action to combat climate change has been growing since 2008, and increased particularly markedly in 2019.
