The Perception and Practices of Environmental Compensation: Urban Infrastructure Projects in Lithuania and Sweden (EnCom)

Project description:

This project aims to explore the perception and practices of environmental compensation in urban infrastructure projects in Lithuania, and, based on the compensation practices that are applied in Sweden, to formulate guidelines for the improvement of environmental compensation mechanisms in Lithuania.

Project results:

Theoretical conceptualization of environmental compensation and analysis of legal regulation of environmental compensation in European Union was conducted. The methods, tools and practices of environmental compensation in Swedish urban development projects were investigated. The urban infrastructure projects with clear environmental impact in biggest Lithuanian cities were selected for further case studies, and detailed description of these projects were prepared. The research methodology was grounded that implements case study research strategy and follows qualitative approach.
