Student Scientific Conference SMILES 2025

About the conference

The Scientific Student Conference SMILES 2024: SOCIAL SCIENCES, ARTS AND HUMANITIES IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY will be held on 14 November 2025 at Kaunas University of Technology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities (A. Mickevičiaus str. 37, Kaunas).

The conference is to start at 10 a.m. Preliminary duration – until 1 p.m. Estimated duration per session – 90 minutes. 

Hereby we invite young researchers and students of all areas of science and all cycles of studies to attend the Conference, to participate actively in the discussions, and to present their own research! Articles meeting the requirements will be published in the Conference e-proceedings. The reports and the articles are to be presented in Lithuanian or in English.

You are kindly invited to register by the 3rd of November, 2025.

Participation in the conference is free.

The conference programme will be published once the abstracts submitted for the conference are selected.

The selection of conference abstracts is open until the end of registration. All authors will be informed of the status of their abstracts by 5 November 2025 (inclusive).

  • Contemporary Education: Issues and Solutions;
  • Contemporary Public Administration: Current Challenges and Future Trends;
  • Language, Translation, Technologies;
  • Civil Society and Sustainable Development;
  • Digital Culture and Philosophy;
  • Communication: present and future trends.
  • Presentations should be up to 10 minutes, with ~5-10 minutes for discussion.
  • Presentation format – slides.
  • It is not necessary to confirm the presentation material with the conference organisers in advance, but it is recommended that you discuss it with your supervisor prior to the conference.

For those unable to attend in person, remote participation will be available. There is no need to create or submit contributions in advance. Recording a presentation without participating in the discussion is not considered as participation in this conference, and this practice will not be applied. Both authors of papers and their supervisors are invited to plan their participation in this conference giving priority to live participation.

Publications

Articles meeting the requirements will be published in the Conference e-proceedings. The presentations and the articles can be prepared in Lithuanian or in English.

Papers based on the presentations should be sent until the 10th of January, 2026, via email: stud.konferencija@ktu.lt

Review process 

Each manuscript submitted is reviewed an expert in the field of research, appointed by the Conference Scientific Committee. The identities of reviewers and authors are not disclosed to either party.

The reviewers assess the correspondence of the title and abstract to the content of the paper, the justification of the relevance of the research, the appropriateness of the formulation of the aim and objectives, the adequacy of the literature review, the clarity of the description of the methods utilised, the relevance of the methodology applied to the results presented, the clarity and comprehensiveness of the theoretical and/or empirical findings, the specificity and validity of the conclusions, as well as their relevance to the aim/objectives of the paper. Based on the listed criteria, the reviewer should select one of the options for the reviewed paper (recommended for publication without any changes; recommended for publication after major/minor corrections; not recommended for publication).
