Eye Tracking Lab

At Kaunas University of Technology’s Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, a new and unique Eye Tracking Laboratory has been established. This interdisciplinary research lab leverages modern and advanced eye-tracking technologies to conduct scientific studies in areas such as machine translation, educational method applications, human-computer interaction, and more. The laboratory facilitates both scientific and practical empirical research, analyzing human gaze trajectories, attention fields, fixations, saccades, and other eye movement metrics.

About

Eye-tracking technology is widely utilized across various scientific fields, as well as in gaming, marketing, design, and many other industries. Its broad application possibilities open up new perspectives for interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research.

In this new KTU lab, researchers from fields such as education, neuroscience, communication, philology, and others carry out their studies.

Technologies Used

The lab utilizes specialized non-invasive infrared-based eye-tracking devices and software. These eye-trackers are safe for human eyes and almost unnoticeable during use. In the conducted studies, precise gaze movements and fixations are observed and recorded while participants view images or read text, depending on the experimental material, objectives, tasks, and desired outcomes. The lab’s technologies are extensively applied in fields such as reading, writing, translation, and editing.

The laboratory’s researchers are part of the international network Multipleye, which enables the collection of eye-tracking experimental data at an international level, as well as sharing infrastructure and expertise.

Additionally, the lab is involved in the EYESIGN project, supported by the Lithuanian Research Council.

Partners

Eye Tracking Lab is open to partners and other interested parties.

It actively collaborates with private sector companies, public sector organizations, and NGOs. The laboratory also regularly hosts presentations of modern technologies for school representatives, introducing eye-tracking not only to pupils and students but to anyone interested.
