Project no.: 09.3.3-LMT-K-712-19-0208

Project description:

The aim of the project is to identify the barriers to the application of innovation in the development of social emotional skills in Lithuanian schools and solutions to mitigate such barriers. A mixed research strategy will be used to carry out the study. The first phase of the investigation will aim at supporting the methodology for investigating the barriers to application of innovation in the development of social emotional skills in schools. During this phase will be developed a new research instrument BAISEL (Barriers to Application of Innovation in Social Emotional Learning) (the title is preliminary). This instrument will be validated by interviewing teachers, social educators and psychologists in urban and rural schools of general education who have participated in the accredited preventive programmes in 2019-2020 (programmes with a focus on the development of pupils’ social emotional skills) and implemented the development of social emotional skills in schools. In the second stage, an analysis of the documents of the accredited preventive programmes of social emotional skills will be carried out, which will allow to reveal the context of the study being conducted. Next, a quantitative empirical study will be carried out using the written survey method. The study is intended to interview 398 teachers, social educators and psychologists from different rural and urban schools of general education in Lithuania. The third phase of the investigation will seek to justify the mitigation of barriers to the application of innovation in the development of social emotional skills in Lithuanian urban and rural schools of general education.
