Effective career guidance and career education can lead to personal well-being, educational success, successful transition to the labour market, long-term employment and higher incomes, but unfortunately it remains poorly professionalised. Therefore, the research questions to be answered are: (1) What are the career challenges and changes taking place in the contemporary world? (2) How can policy makers respond to the contemporary challenges of personal careers? (3) How can career counselling practice take a more critical stance in order to respond more effectively to changes in the world?
Aim: to critically examine the phenomenon of careers and career counselling in the contemporary world to understand the complex relationship between personal psychology, technological change, and political economy.
