LMT Financial support for updating scientific infrastructure according to the application P-IRA-24-28 (L. Daniusevičiūtė – Brazaitė)

Project no.: S-IRA-24-22
Project website: https://ktu.edu/scientist/laura.daniuseviciute/

Project description:

The combined use of gaze-tracking technology and electroencephalography (EEG) techniques in research is increasingly used in education, communication, sociology, translation science and other philological fields. Therefore, the participation of the Faculty’s researchers in joint interdisciplinary, international scientific research using EEG and gaze tracking equipment will allow KTU researchers to share knowledge, achieve knowledge co-creation, joint comparative studies and publications with foreign researchers, as well as increase the visibility of KTU SHMMF researchers and research conducted in Lithuania, and allow researchers to establish themselves in international networks of researchers in education, communication, sociology, philology and other fields and areas.

Project funding:

Financial support for updating scientific infrastructure

Project results:

The faculty conducts cognitive research to assess students’ information processing efficiency, object recognition speed, and structure to identify learning strategies. The combined use of gaze tracking and EEG systems would allow visual attention assessment and provide constructive feedback focused on individual improvement using IoT tools in the learning process. Research on text and/or translation reading tasks to determine whether/and which errors in the text or other features of the Lithuanian text cause difficulties for readers. Combined with gaze tracking technology and EEG techniques, it is increasingly used in translation studies and other philological research. The conceptual analysis of moral emotion and its role in petty corruption will use gaze tracking and emotion assessment techniques in an experimental setting. Gaze tracking technology and EEG methodology combined can lead to more in-depth studies and detailed information.
EEG and eye-tracking will, therefore, not only make it more convenient, simple, independent and timely for scientists to carry out their research but will also strengthen national and regional leadership, promote awareness and trust among citizens of Lithuanian scientists as equal members of the international scientific community and science in general.
