“If the talent is directed correctly and purposefully, you can harvest the fruit of hard and honest work.”

Why did you choose to teach at KTU?

I will admit, when I was going to the job interview, I thought that I would politely say that I’m busy and that the interview would be over. However, that interview turned in a completely different direction and I began to wonder how important a sound director’s specialty is Without it, we could not imagine television, radio, or concerts, let alone work in a recording studio. I decided to teach for a year and sort out my priorities for good During the first year, together with the students, we not only created but also published a fairy tale for children. I felt excitement and responsibility for both the young generation and for the sound culture. When we’re talking about music, composition, I would say I couldn’t take a single step without it, so I joined the KTU community and I can in all sincerity say that I am very happy.

How do you see today’s youth?

I really like the young people of today, they aim boldly, want more, there are no limits to their curiosity This is very good because only such a generation can lead forward. Of course, there are also lazy people, but one day they wake up from their comfortable slumber as well. You sing, play, spend a lot of time in the recording studio.

Which activity is the dearest to you?

My music tree grew out of the violin, later branched out into concert activities, composition, arranging. music production, sound directing. teaching at the conservatory and university, directing radio and TV shows. Everything revolves around music in one way or another. I don’t limit myself to one of these areas. A lot of things are connected to music, so it is both interesting and useful to realize myself in everything that is at least somewhat related to the world of sounds.

How do you rest from various activities?

It may sound weird, but the concert activity doesn’t tire me, on the contrary, it energizes me. I still think that I’m lucky because I do what I love, which means I don’t work at all. Of course, people need breaks not only from the music, but also from any activity you do for a long time. Then, I pack my bag, get on a plane, and rush to the other side of the world. Over there, I collect ideas and completely different. experiences, which later on flow into the music.

What other creators inspire you? What kind of music do you listen to?

I’m inspired by the works of Bach, Mozart, jazz, funk, electronic music. In fact, I listen to a wide variety of genres for purely professional reasons and I am interested in everything the world offers today. If I hear on the radio something that annoys me, I don’t waste my time analyzing it, I just switch to another station. There is too much good music in the world to waste time on garbage. And there’s a lot of it, not only from the compositional or performance point but also from sound culture, sound directing.

Do you think musicians are born or made?

Musicians are both bom and made because music requires both talent and practice. If the talent is directed correctly and purposefully, you can harvest the fruit of hard and honest work.
