Educator, learning expert. Associate professor, working in the field of career development and consulting career choosing. Encourages to look at the needs of modern children and the peculiarities of decision-making. Lecturer, to whose lectures come more students than there are chairs in the classroom.

“What fascinates me the most is not the result, but the learning process itself, when the student experiences wonder, the joy of discovery, and begins to apply their knowledge in life.”

What led to the care for the education and career of others? What fascinates you the most in this area?

Apparently, being an educator is my calling. However, there was a time when I tried to prove myself otherwise. The auditoriurn of teachers, which many lecturers identify as extremely complex, is the most pleasing thing for me. When I hold seminars for teachers, I feel like I am on my own path. It might be difficult sometimes, but most of the time it’s fun and it always is meaningful to follow it. What fascinates me most is not the result, but the learning process itself, when a student (age is irrelevant in this case, I call a student anyone who is determined to look deeper into the subjects | teach) experiences wonder, the joy of discovery and enthusiastically begins to apply their knowledge in life.

What do you do at our faculty?

I have been working as a lecturer at this university for almost twenty years. My most prominent area of interest, as a researcher and educator, is career development. How to find your calling and reveal your personal potential in today’s world of activities? We look for answers to this question (and, of course, find it) together with the bachelor students in the Career Development module. I teach andragogy to master students of education, together we share scientific discoveries and personal experiences in the adult education field. I used to teach and continue to teach more modules, all of which relate to human development human relationships, and creative approach to life.

How do you spend your free time?

I’m very attached to Lithuania, to its nature, folklore, language. When I have to travel somewhere, upon my retum, I feel with my whole being that it’s my land under my feet. I have one hidden passion – aromatherapy. Many people know that essential oils are a gift from nature that help people overcome illnesses and protect themselves from diseases. But what effect do they have on emotions, a person’s mental state? How can a few drops of that miraculous substance dispel sadness and incite enthusiasm for a fresh start? Why do we revive deeply buried childhood memories when we inhale the scent of orange, vanilla, etc.? How is it that after a hint of spearmint or peppermint essential oil we become energetic and ready to do many different things? For me, at the moment, this area is like a world of miracles (although there is an explanation for everything where neuroscience meets organic chemistry)

What makes Kaunas attractive to young people?

Kaunas is a wonderful city: still green (I hope the government will come to their senses and stops recklessly destroying trees), compact, cozy, full of cultural institutions, and nearby events. Everything fits here – the old interwar spirit, the breath of which can be felt in the Old Town or Žaliakalnis, and the signs of a modern city. There are so many young people studying here! Kaunas is a great place to study, work in youth organizations, communicate, create, and pursue.

What motivates you in life?

The love for people. It’s the most important thing.
